The Lodge at Breckenridge has some of the most incredible views of Breckenridge Resort and is such a beautiful wedding venue in Summit County! It holds such a special little place in my heart. I’ve been lucky enough to photograph 50+ weddings and elopements myself here!
They’re one of Breckenridge’s few venues that host weddings year-round, with events ranging from 2-person elopements to 150 guests.
The Lodge has some of the best views in the county and is less than 10-minute drive into town! There are plenty hotel rooms and space for all your guests. While you can’t walk into town, they do have a shuttle for rides into town. There’s also an onsite restaurant and bar for when you don’t want to leave the property.
Should I have a summer wedding or winter wedding at The Lodge?
The Lodge is available year-round for weddings or elopements! Is a winter wonderland your dream or is summer more your style? You can expect snow until April/May and then June starts the gorgeous summer season. If you’re looking for a fall wedding, Mid September to early October is beautiful.
What are winter weddings like?
Winter weddings at The Lodge are magical! It’s the perfect winter backdrop for you, your friends and family. With the sun setting earlier (around 4/5PM), we’ll see earlier ceremony times. Give yourself plenty of time in your timeline to do all of your photos before it gets dark.
It can get pretty cold so make sure you have on layers, and shoes with traction that will do well in the snow. Supplying blankets, hand warmers, and maybe a bar with hot drinks for your guests would make a fun winter touch.
What are Summer weddings like?
Summers in Breckenridge are incredible with so much to do! You can expect perfect temperatures in the 70s, chilly nights, and plan for afternoon thunderstorms that usually pass by pretty quickly. There are lots of hiking trails near The Lodge and it’s a perfect time to explore!
The deck is west-facing and on sunny days, the sun can be pretty bright for your guests. Make sure your guests have sunglasses or sunscreen. The sun will be setting later (around 8PM) and we’ll get the best lighting for pictures as the sun goes behind Breckenridge Mountain.
Should I stay at The Lodge?
There are lots of places to stay! Either The Lodge itself or there are many nearby rental options if you’re looking for something more private for the whole gang to rent! The Alpine House is right across the street from The Lodge and is available to rent! It’s perfect if you have a group of people that you want to stay with. They just built a ton of new homes on the street right by The Lodge so there are lots of options for places to stay for all your guests!
Getting to The Lodge
The Lodge is just under a 10-minute drive from downtown Breckenridge up Baldy Mountain with some of the best views in Breck. If you’re staying on-site, they have a shuttle and provide drives into town. Note that Uber and Lyft are available, but not always running or reliable to get a driver. There’s also a free bus (Boreas Pass Loop) into town with a bus stop right outside of The Lodge (Overlook Drive). I use this all the time!
If you do get a rental car, there are lots of amazing spots nearby to explore! Some of the roads getting to The Lodge are steep, so I recommend having a 4-wheel drive.
Can I elope at The Lodge?
We’ve photographed anything from 2-person elopements to large, full-size weddings here. They can accommodate many different sizes! You may be able to rent just the deck VS renting out the entire reception space.
My photography journey started in 2009 when I fell in love with documenting moments and capturing people in their element.
11 years ago, I moved to the amazing little mountain town of Breckenridge, Colorado from Raleigh, North Carolina.
Wild to say I've photographed over 300 weddings and portrait sessions all over. I started this small but mighty team of local mountain photographers to capture whatever season of life you're in.
