Colorado has so many gorgeous and unique resorts that are perfect for a couple’s trip. Whether you’re looking for an outdoorsy mountain getaway, a luxury spa weekend, or a hot springs resort, Colorado has a little bit of something for everyone!
I’ve put together this list of the best resorts in Colorado for couples, from mountain hotels near Denver to secluded ranches and hot springs resorts in Western Colorado. Each one offers something a little different depending on the type of trip you’re planning.
After spending 13 years living and working as a wedding photographer in Breckenridge, I’ve been lucky enough to explore so many of these places throughout Colorado. This list includes some of my personal favorites, along with a few resorts that are still on my bucket list!

The Broadmoor – Colorado Springs
Best for: Couples looking for a luxury resort to relax, unwind, and spoil themselves for a weekend.
The Broadmoor is a Colorado staple and one of the most well-known luxury resorts in the state. It’s a 5-star resort in Colorado Springs with just about everything you could want for a weekend away. There’s plenty to do without ever leaving the resort, from great restaurants and a full-service spa to golf if that’s your thing!
One of the things The Broadmoor is best known for is its amazing customer service. If you’re looking for somewhere not too far from Denver where you can relax and be pampered, this is a great option.

The Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch – Beaver Creek
Best for: Couples looking for a cozy, luxury mountain getaway with skiing, a spa, and relaxing.
The Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch is a gorgeous luxury resort tucked away in Beaver Creek. It has that classic Colorado mountain lodge feel, with beautiful stone fireplaces, wood beams, and cozy places to relax after a day outside.
You have ski-in, ski-out access in the winter, but there’s also plenty to enjoy if you’re not skiing. They have a beautiful spa, outdoor heated pool, hot tubs, and several restaurants, so you could easily spend a whole weekend just relaxing at the resort.
In the summer, there’s hiking, mountain biking, and plenty of other outdoor activities nearby. It’s also a great option if you want a quieter mountain getaway without staying right in the middle of Vail Village.

Dunton Hot Springs – Dolores

Dunton Hot Springs has been at the very top of my Colorado bucket list for years and truly looks like a one-of-a-kind experience! It’s a restored 1800s ghost town tucked away in the San Juan Mountains, with historic log cabins, natural hot springs, and incredible mountain scenery.
Dunton still has that rustic, old mining town feel, but with all the amenities of a luxury resort. You can spend your day soaking in the hot springs, hiking, or getting pampered with a spa service. Some of the cabins even have their own private hot springs!
They’re known for their culinary experience, and the chefs create meals based on your preferences and what’s in season. They also have family-style dining in the old saloon.
It’s definitely a trek to get here from Denver, but if you’re looking for something really unique and romantic, this looks like an unforgettable place to stay!

Mount Princeton Hot Springs and Spa – Buena Vista
Best for: Couples who love the outdoors and want a relaxing hot springs getaway.
If you’re planning a trip to Colorado, I’d definitely add a hot springs experience to your bucket list! Mount Princeton is a fun place to visit for the day, but you can also stay on-site in one of their cabins or lodge rooms.
It’s a great option if you love the outdoors but also want some time to relax, without the feel of a full luxury resort. It’s family-friendly, but they have an adults-only pool area that’s worth splurging on if you’re looking for something quieter. Be sure to explore the natural hot springs right along the river!
It’s tucked away outside Buena Vista, which is such a cute little mountain town to explore while you’re there. There are plenty of outdoor activities nearby, like hiking, mountain biking, and rafting.

Gateway Canyons Resort & Spa – Gateway
Best for: Couples looking for a quiet, secluded resort with Southwestern vibes.
Gateway Canyons Resort & Spa is tucked away on Colorado’s Western Slope, with incredible views of the red rock mountains. I photographed a wedding here and absolutely loved it! It’s remote and quiet, but that’s part of what makes it such a special place.
The property felt so peaceful. You can spend the morning walking around with your coffee, enjoying the mountain views, or relaxing by the pool. It has all the perks of a nice resort, including restaurants and a spa, without feeling overly fancy or rustic.
If you’re looking for a little more adventure, there are lots of activities to choose from, like hiking, horseback riding, ATV tours, and even helicopter rides!

A little tip when booking luxury resorts
If you’re planning to splurge on a luxury resort, it’s worth checking Classic Travel before booking. They partner with some of the top luxury hotels and offer extra perks that you might not get booking elsewhere, like complimentary breakfast for two, hotel credits, and possible room upgrades or early check-in and late checkout.
Not every resort offers the same perks, but it’s definitely worth comparing before booking!
Vista Verde Ranch – Steamboat Springs
Best for: Couples looking for an all-inclusive Western ranch experience.
Vista Verde Ranch is an all-inclusive dude ranch outside Steamboat Springs, and it’s been high on my Colorado bucket list for a while! If you’ve ever wanted to experience life on a Western ranch, this looks like an unforgettable trip.
They have everything from horseback riding to fly fishing, mountain biking, and wine tasting. They have guides for all the activities, so even if you’re a beginner, you can try a little bit of everything!
It’s a family-owned ranch with more of a community feel, rustic cabins with family-style meals, and an incredible culinary experience.
Vista Verde also has adults-only stays in the fall, which is worth looking into if you’re planning a kid-free getaway!

Devil’s Thumb Ranch is a gorgeous property just outside Winter Park, with cozy cabins, beautiful mountain views, and plenty of outdoor activities. It’s a great option if you want to escape to the mountains without staying at a busy ski resort, and it’s only about 1.5 hours from Denver!
Devil’s Thumb has more of a mountain resort feel than a traditional dude ranch, with several restaurants, a spa, and an outdoor pool. You can spend your days horseback riding, exploring the trails, or just relaxing around the property.
In the winter, the property looks like a winter wonderland, with cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and plenty of cozy places to warm up afterward.

If you’re looking for an easy getaway from Denver, check out St Julien Hotel & Spa in Boulder! It’s right downtown, within walking distance of Pearl Street, where you’ll find tons of great restaurants, shops, and places to explore.
The rooms are gorgeous and cozy, and they also have a full-service spa, indoor pool, hot tub, and sauna. It’s a great option if you want to spend your days exploring Boulder but still have a relaxing place to come back to.

Garden of the Gods Resort & Club – Colorado Springs
Best for: Couples looking for a relaxing resort getaway with incredible red rock views.
Garden of the Gods Resort & Club is another great option if you’re looking for an easy getaway from Denver! The views of Garden of the Gods and the mountains are incredible.
It’s more of a traditional luxury resort, with beautiful rooms, an on-site restaurant, spa, and golf course. It’s perfect for a weekend relaxing, enjoying the views, and exploring Colorado Springs.

The Little Nell – Aspen
Best for: Couples looking for a luxury ski getaway with easy access to downtown Aspen.
The Little Nell is a 5-star luxury hotel right at the base of Aspen Mountain. It’s one of the few hotels in Aspen with true ski-in, ski-out access, but you’re also right downtown, within walking distance to restaurants, shops, and nightlife!
They have beautiful rooms, incredible dining, and an outdoor heated pool and hot tub with mountain views. If you’re visiting in the summer, there’s plenty of hiking and other outdoor activities nearby!

The Springs Resort – Pagosa Springs
Best for: Couples who love hot springs and want plenty of different pools to soak in.
The Springs Resort in Pagosa Springs has been on my Colorado bucket list for a while! If you love hot springs, this has 47 pools right along the San Juan River, all with different temperatures and views.
They also have adults-only soaking areas, spa treatments, and newly updated rooms and suites. One of the biggest perks of staying at the resort is having 24-hour access to the hot springs, so you can enjoy a quiet soak early in the morning or late at night!
The resort is right in downtown Pagosa Springs, making it easy to explore the town while you’re there.

Adults-Only Resorts in Colorado
If you’re looking for a romantic getaway without kids around, there are a few adults-only hotels in Colorado worth checking out!
- StoneBrook Resort on Fall River – Estes Park. An adults-only mountain getaway with cabins and suites along Fall River.
- Beaumont Hotel & Spa – Ouray. A historic hotel for guests ages 16 and older.
Most resorts in Colorado are family-friendly, but some also offer adults-only weeks throughout the year.
Vista Verde Ranch offers adults-only stays during select fall dates, and C Lazy U Ranch hosts special adults-only getaways.
If you’re planning a kid-free trip, it’s worth checking their calendars to see when these stays are available!
All-Inclusive Resorts in Colorado
If you’re looking for a Sandals-style all-inclusive resort in Colorado, you probably won’t find quite the same experience. But there are some incredible ranches and mountain resorts where meals and activities are included in your stay!
A couple of my favorites from this list are:
- Vista Verde Ranch – Near Steamboat Springs. An all-inclusive dude ranch with meals, horseback riding, and guided outdoor activities.
- Dunton Hot Springs – Near Dolores. A luxury mountain getaway with meals, most beverages, and access to natural hot springs included.
Just keep in mind that what’s included varies by resort, especially when it comes to alcohol, spa treatments, and extra activities.
