Heading to the mountains? Sharing a few unique places to stay and a few of my favorite things to do for your trip to Breckenridge, Frisco, Dillon, Silverthorne, Keystone or Copper.
As they say, come for the winter, stay for the summer. Summit County is such a magical place to visit
6 places to stay on a trip to Breckenridge or Summit County!
A trendy, modern boutique hotel right at the base of Peak 9 and right off Main Street! The best of both worlds. They have all the amenities like a restaurant and bar, coffee shop, dry sauna and gear rentals.
If you’re looking for a similar spot, check out The Village at Breck right next door for condos with kitchens and a more traditional family ski-in ski-out.
The mecca for the ski trip experience! Tucked a little further from town, but just a quick bus ride or drive into town, this is the perfect all-inclusive ski vacation. This has everything you need for a ski in ski out experience. A full spa, a restaurant and even an arcade and movie theatre.
Summit Counties’ newest modern boutique hostel! This spot is close to Keystone and Copper Mountain and right in the heart of Silverthorne. There’s a spot for everyone, daily activities (trivia is my personal favorite) and right on the Blue River.
One of Silverthorne’s newest hotels, Hotel Indigo is in the heart of Silverthorne’s newest addition at 4th Street Crossing! A ‘downtown’ like experience with modern rooms!
A quaint Victorian B&B right off Frisco Main Street! Looking for something with historic charm and a family-owned atmosphere, this is your spot! Wine and cheese? Sign me up.
This B&B will make you feel like you’re in a European town! Tucked away in Keystone, this is such a unique stay! An amazing culinary experience, a cozy atmosphere, and unique touches all throughout.
Here are some fun things to do in Breckenridge and around Summit County, Colorado
Summer
Go Hiking! So many amazing hikes around the county for all levels. Alltrails.com is my favorite app to find a hike! If you have kids, check out the Trollsteigen which is a great 1 mile hike to do with kids and it takes you to a giant 15-foot wooden sculpture troll, Isak Heartstone
Free Gondola Ride at Breckenridge (closed seasonally during mud season May & October)
Go fly fishing and/or camping
Bike around the bike path or try mountain biking if you’re feeling adventurous!
Summit County is roughly 1 1/2-2 hours from Denver International Airport. While it’s a bit of a drive, there are many ways of transportation to and from DIA.
Renting a car
Renting a car to drive to Summit County is perfect as there’s so much to see, do and explore!
Be sure to rent a 4-wheel drive SUV or an all-wheel drive that will handle snowy conditions. Note that snow can come as early as September and as late as June.
Take a shuttle or other transportation
There are plenty of local shuttle companies that will pick you up from the airport and take you right to Summit County. Once you’re in Summit County, there’s free bus transportation roughly once an hour around Breckenridge, Frisco, Dillon, Silverthorne and Keystone.
While we do have Uber or Lyft, do not rely on this as your main source of transportation. We don’t have many drivers in the area and sometimes the wait time is pretty lengthy.
When should I visit Breckenridge or Summit County?
Being that Summit County is around 9000ft, the weather is so different than the rest of the world! Be sure to take into consideration the weather in Breckenridge.
Hi! I'm Kelsey!
My photography journey started in 2009 when I fell in love with documenting moments and capturing people in their element.
11 years ago, I moved to the amazing little mountain town of Breckenridge, Colorado from Raleigh, North Carolina.
Wild to say I've photographed over 300 weddings and portrait sessions all over. I started this small but mighty team of local mountain photographers to capture whatever season of life you're in.
