The Lodge at Breckenridge is one of the most scenic wedding venues in the area, with incredible views of Breckenridge Resort! It holds a special little place in my heart. I’ve been lucky enough to photograph 50+ weddings and elopements here!
It’s one of Breckenridge’s few venues that hosts weddings year-round, and it’s perfect for everything from a small 2-person elopement to a full-size wedding.
Quick info: The Lodge at Breckenridge wedding details
📍Location: 5-10 minute drive from downtown Breckenridge
✨Perks: On-site lodging, shuttle to town, incredible views
💍 Elopement friendly: Yes, you can rent just the deck!
🐾 Pet friendly!
What’s the best time of year to get married at The Lodge?
The Lodge at Breckenridge is open year-round for events and is gorgeous regardless of the time of year. It’s higher in elevation, which can sometimes bring unpredictable weather, snow sticks around longer, and the seasons shift a little earlier/later than you’d expect.
🍁 Fall peak: Mid-September to early October (short but stunning)
❄️ Winter: Snow starts late October and will stay through early/mid-May
☀️ Summer season: Mid to late June through early September
☁️ Off/mud season: April, May, and October – less predictable weather, patchy snow or mud
Summer weddings
Summers in Breckenridge are tough to beat. Perfect daytime temps in the 70s to low 80s, cool nights, and plenty of hiking trails right outside The Lodge.
The ceremony deck faces west, which means it’s usually pretty bright! Make sure your guests have sunglasses and sunscreen, and have an extra layer once the sun goes down.
Sunsets on the deck are gorgeous and the perfect backdrop for your first dances or toasts.
Peak summer: Late June-September
Peak fall: Mid to end of September
Winter weddings
Winter weddings at The Lodge are so magical! It’s the perfect winter backdrop with snow covering Breckenridge resort.
The sun sets earlier (around 4/5PM), we’ll see earlier ceremony times. Give yourself plenty of time in your timeline to do all of your photos before it gets dark.
It can get pretty chilly so make sure you have on layers, and shoes with traction that will do well in the snow. Supplying blankets, hand warmers, and maybe a bar with hot drinks for your guests would make a fun winter touch.
Winter season: December-April
Cocktail hour space
Cocktail hour is the perfect time to take advantage of the views on the deck and enjoy hanging out with all of your guests.
If you want to be present for your cocktail hour, get all the family photos and couples portraits out of the way before the ceremony.
Reception space
Most couples will say that the reception space isn’t jaw-dropping on its own. It’s more of a blank slate: clean and neutral with rustic lodge touches.
Add greenery, lighting, or drapery can really make the space feel styled and intentional and allows you to really make it your own.
Staying at the Lodge at Breckenridge
57 rooms at The Lodge
The Alpine House or Summit House are rental homes onsite
There’s no shortage of places for your guests to stay! The Lodge itself is super spacious with 57 rooms. On-site is The Alpine House or Summit House which is available to rent if you want your group to all stay together instead of different hotel rooms.
There’s also lots of home rentals within walking distance if your group wants to rent one or a few larger properties for everyone to stay at.
Getting to The Lodge
The Lodge is just under a 10-minute drive from downtown Breckenridge up Baldy Mountain with some of the best views in Breck. If you’re staying on-site, they have a shuttle and provide drives into town. Note that Uber and Lyft are available, but not always running or reliable to get a driver. There’s also a free bus (Boreas Pass Loop) into town with a bus stop right outside of The Lodge (Overlook Drive). I use this all the time!
I recommend getting a rental car as there are lots of amazing spots nearby to explore! The roads getting to The Lodge are steep, so I recommend having a 4-wheel drive.
We’ve photographed anything from 2-person elopements to large, full-size weddings here. They can accommodate many different sizes! You may be able to rent just the deck VS renting out the entire reception space.

My photography journey started in 2009 when I fell in love with documenting moments and capturing people in their element.
12 years ago, I moved to the amazing little mountain town of Breckenridge, Colorado, from Raleigh, North Carolina.
Wild to say I've photographed over 300 weddings and portrait sessions all over. I started this small but mighty team of local mountain photographers to capture whatever season of life you're in.
