Things to consider:
While the reserved Pavilion space is spacious, it’s right in the heart of Dillon — next to the playground, park, bike path, marina, and amphitheater. There will likely be people nearby, especially on weekends or during events, but it still tends to feel relatively quiet. The restrooms are also shared with the public. If you’re hoping for a private, quiet space, it’s worth checking it out in person or considering one of the alternative venues below.
Paige and Eric came from out of town so having an amazing Colorado mountain backdrop for their friends and family was a must! It was such a fun, low-key, sunny day. Bonus points – their dog got to come. The views of Lake Dillon from the pavilion never disappoint.
Wedding pictures around Lake Dillon
These two decided to do a first look before their ceremony so they could get all of their photos out of the way and just be present for the rest of the night! It was such a fun afternoon strolling around Dillon from the lake to the marina.
Wedding reception at the pavilion
They also had their reception under the pavilion and it was the perfect spot for a low-key, evening on the lake. They brought yard games, had a local caterer for dinner and had such a good night just hanging out and enjoying. They even got to enjoy a little live music as there was a free concert happening at the amphitheatre! They sadly don’t allow reservations during a paid concert.
Planning tips for getting married at Lake Dillon
You don’t have to do your entire wedding day at the Dillon Marina Pavilion. Some couples choose to have their ceremony here and host their reception elsewhere. Others do the reverse and use the Pavilion as a reception space after a ceremony. This couple had their ceremony at Sapphire Point and reception at the pavilion. Another couple had their ceremony at the pavilion and reception at Silverthorne Pavilion.
Best time of year to get married at Dillon Marina Pavilion
Late June to early September is the popular time for weddings here. You’ll get warmer temps, but note that thunderstorms can roll through anytime. Even in summer, it gets chilly once the sun sets. Plan for always bringing a light layer if the weather changes.
May: Still chilly and a little gloomy mixed with gorgeous days. Snow or rain possible and the lake may still be icy. Trees are just starting to slowly bud and bloom.
June: Can be perfect ‘spring’ weather but possibly windy or rainy. Wildflowers start popping up late June and things start to turn green.
July: Peak summer season. Beautiful lake views, snow-capped peaks are often still in view. Quicky evening thunderstorms may pop up.
August: Beautiful warm summer days.
September: Crisp air, fall color starting mid September, cooler evenings and days.
October: October starts the end of fall and beginning of snowstorms and a mix of weather.
My photography journey started in 2009 when I fell in love with documenting moments and capturing people in their element.
11 years ago, I moved to the amazing little mountain town of Breckenridge, Colorado from Raleigh, North Carolina.
Wild to say I've photographed over 300 weddings and portrait sessions all over. I started this small but mighty team of local mountain photographers to capture whatever season of life you're in.
