Looking for a gift for a photographer? I’m sharing my favorite photography essentials and camera gear that I actually use as a wedding photographer. Whether you’re shopping for a beginner or a seasoned professional who already has all the gear, these are some of my favorite gift ideas for photographers.

After 15 years as a photographer, low-quality gear is one of my biggest pet peeves, so you won’t find any cheesy gifts here! These are all my personal recommendations, along with a few things on my own wish list. From inexpensive gifts to high-end luxury gear, there’s something for just about every photographer, whether you’re shopping for a birthday, the holidays, or just because.

Peak Design Capture Camera Clip

Best for: photographers who hike or travel with their camera

This Peak Design camera clip for your backpack is one of my favorite gifts under $100! I got this for Christmas a few years ago, and I was so excited about it! It clips right onto your backpack strap so you can easily pull your camera out or put it away. It did take me a little while to find a backpack with thin enough straps for it to fit. Peak Design’s backpacks are designed to work with the clip, but if you’re using another brand, you’ll want to double-check the strap thickness.

Once I found a backpack that worked, I loved it! For photographers who love hiking and traveling, it’s the perfect way to keep your camera accessible and makes it easy to take more photos of your own adventures!

I also got the Peak Design hand strap with my camera clip, and I was surprised by how much I use and love it! I’ve loved both so much that I’m adding their camera backpacks and camera cubes to my Christmas wish list this year.

Professional Camera Memory Cards

Best for: Any photographer or videographer

Good-quality memory cards are a must for every photographer, and they’re always on my list to buy! I recommend investing in reliable, professional-grade cards rather than choosing cheaper alternatives. Quality memory cards are one thing I won’t skimp on!

Photo and video files take up a lot of space, so having memory cards with plenty of storage and fast write speeds makes a big difference.

If you’re buying memory cards as a gift, make sure to check which type their camera requires! Many cameras use SD cards, but some use CFexpress cards, and others have slots for both. I personally use both SD and CFexpress cards.

Camera harness for carrying multiple cameras

Best for: Wedding, elopement, or portrait photographers who use multiple cameras

A camera harness is one of my favorite accessories for photographing weddings and families! It allows you to carry two cameras comfortably and switch between them without having to dig through your camera bag.

My typical setup is my 135mm lens on one camera and my 24–70mm lens on the other. Having both cameras right at my sides makes it so easy to switch lenses without missing a moment.

There are lots of great camera harnesses out there, but my personal favorite is the HoldFast MoneyMaker for its style and comfort. It’s a little more of an investment, but I love the look of it, especially for weddings.

50mm Camera Lens

Best for: Beginners or photographers looking for an everyday lens

If you’re looking to get them camera gear but aren’t sure where to start, a 50mm lens is a great option! There are a few different versions, but the 50mm f/1.8 is one of my favorite budget-friendly lenses. It’s perfect for beginner photographers and was my first lens.

I love bringing my f/1.8 when I’m traveling or for personal photos because it’s SO lightweight. It does have some focusing quirks, but for the price, it’s still one of my favorites!

If you’re looking for something higher-end, the professional-grade 50mm f/1.2 is an incredible lens with beautiful image quality, although it’s quite a bit more expensive.

Just make sure you know what camera they use before buying! Different camera brands and models require different lens mounts, so double-check compatibility.

Fujifilm Point-and-Shoot Camera

Best for: Everyday photos, traveling, and photographers who want to leave their professional gear at home

These Fujifilm cameras have been blowing up as photographers’ personal cameras. Even if they already have a professional camera, a smaller, lightweight Fujifilm point-and-shoot camera is perfect for traveling or taking personal photos without carrying around all their gear.

They also have built-in film simulations, so you can get that film look without even having to edit. I think any photographer can appreciate no editing and not having to carry around their big camera.

Instant Print Cameras

Best for: A fun gift for photographers who already have all the camera gear

There’s something so fun about taking a photo and having a physical print right away! I love the classic Polaroid-style cameras from Fujifilm, but they also make a hybrid digital/instant camera that lets you choose which photos to print instead of printing every shot. Don’t forget to grab some extra Instax film!

Editing Console for Photographers

Best for: Photographers and videographers who spend a lot of time editing

The Loupedeck+ has been one of my favorite tools for editing photos. It helps speed up my workflow (if I remember to use it!), and the customizable dials and controls make it easier to fine-tune my edits without constantly reaching for my mouse.

Loupedeck stopped selling its editing consoles in 2025 and has since shifted to the Logitech MX Creative Console. It’s a newer, more compact design that offers many of the same editing functions. I’m still using and loving my Loupedeck+, but I plan on eventually upgrading to the more compact Logitech console!

iPad Pro

Best for: Editing photos, traveling, and working on the go

If you’re looking for a bigger gift for a birthday or Christmas, an iPad Pro is a great option! I personally love using mine for culling photos in Lightroom Mobile and doodling in Procreate.

I’ve also taken some fun Skillshare classes to learn more about Procreate, which has been a fun way to get creative outside of photography.

Of course, I use my iPad for so much more, but I especially love having it with me when I’m traveling or working on the go.

Noise-canceling headphones

Best for: Photographers who edit, travel, or work in noisy places

My JBL noise-canceling headphones are one of my favorite purchases, and I can’t believe how often I use them! They’re great for blocking out distractions while I’m editing photos, working, or traveling.

I also use the microphone for voice-to-text when writing blog posts, which has become a big part of my workflow.

I bought my boyfriend a pair of Sony noise-canceling headphones, and he loves them! They’re amazing quality, too.

Rechargeable batteries

Best for: An affordable and useful gift

I love these rechargeable batteries! I originally bought them for my camera flashes, but now I find myself using them all over the house.

I’d recommend getting a larger pack with a charger because you can never have too many! I’m always adding more to my collection, both for my camera bag and our junk drawer at home.

Portable Power Bank

Best for: Wedding photographers, travelers, and anyone who’s always on the go

A portable power bank is one of those things that’s SO nice to have in your camera bag. Between using my phone for behind-the-scenes videos, directions, and keeping up with clients, the last thing I want is a dead phone in the middle of a wedding day.

I love the idea of a compact one with a built-in charging cable so there’s one less thing to remember to pack.

I first signed up for Skillshare when I wanted to get a little more creative and try some art classes. I started with watercolor and other creative classes, but quickly found myself taking courses on SEO, advertising, and pretty much anything related to running a small business.

Cozy Editing Day Essentials

Best for: Photographers who work from home

My work-from-home uniform consists of pretty much anything cozy! When I’m spending hours at my desk editing photos, I want to be as comfortable as possible.

Walking pad

Best for: Photographers who spend hours editing at their desks

I’m adding a walking pad to my Christmas list this year so I can get some movement in while editing photos or working on my computer.

One of the hardest parts of running my photography business is spending SO much time sitting at my desk. I love being outside and staying active, so the idea of walking while I work sounds pretty great. I’m a little nervous to try it, but also excited!

This one could really be for anyone, but if they’re waking up at 3 AM for sunrise sessions, a sunrise alarm clock sounds pretty nice! Nothing makes me more furious than waking up to a blaring alarm, so I love the idea of waking up gradually with light instead.
