Planning a wedding at Sapphire Point Overlook?
If you’re looking for a low-key location for your small wedding or elopement, Sapphire Point is amazing!
Capacity: You can host weddings up to 35 people (including vendors + kids) at Sapphire Point. 35 people might be a bit of a stretch for the overlook area, so keeping it closer to 20 will help!
*note: don’t forget to leave room for your photographer to move around the space freely, so they’re able to get all sorts of angles.
Availability: Weddings are year-round at Sapphire Point making it one of the most popular spots for a small wedding or elopement in Breckenridge. They allow reservations 6 months in advance on their website Book Sapphire Point Overlook.
*They are currently planning to renovate the space and not accepting reservations for the spring of 2024. They have plans to reopen summer of 2024. Check out our list of Breckenridge wedding venues if you’re looking for an alternative option!
You can reserve a 3-hour window to use the Overlook area and the fee is $120.
Note that your reservation allows you to use the Overlook space, but does not block off the ‘Sapphire Point trail’ making it not 100% private and allows for bystanders to watch your ceremony. Some will leave signage saying ‘quiet, wedding in place’ or something along those lines.

Real Wedding Feature: August Sapphire Point Micro-wedding
They spent the morning getting ready in their vacation rental with their friends and family where we did a first look and then set off for the ceremony! Their two-level home was perfect for the bride getting ready upstairs and the groom on the basement level.
Sapphire Point is just outside of The Town of Breckenridge and a quick 10-15 minute drive.
It’s up a windy, steep road (Swan Mountain) so be sure to have a suitable 4-wheel drive car in the winter to make it up the hill!
Sapphire Point is also a pretty accessible hiking trail for anyone so there’s plenty of surrounding space for photos and makes it probably the most popular spot in Summit County for photos.
That can be a downfall as it can bring crowds so try to carpool if possible or hire a private shuttle service.
Intimate Ceremony at Sapphire Point Overlook
Love how they incorporated the sweetest family speeches into the ceremony.
Small reception at Dillon Marina Pavilion
We headed down Swan Mountain to Dillion Pavilion Park which is yet another stunning spot by the lake. Perfect for low-key events, weddings or a BBQ.
You’re right on the water, next to the Amphitheater and surrounded by gorgeous views. Makes for the perfect spot for photos.
It was a chilly, rainy day so having a roof over our heads to keep out of the drizzle was great. I always recommend preparing for all sorts of weather.
Rainy days in the summer can bring cool temperatures so make sure you’re prepared to keep your guests cozy!
Winter Elopement at Sapphire Point
These two chose Sapphire Point as their backdrop for their New Year’s elopement.
Getting ready in downtown Breckenridge
These two chose Breckenridge as their destination! There’s just something so special about the town covered in snow, decorated for Christmas and so much to do!
Frisco, Silverthorne, Dillon or Keystone would also make great towns to stay in. They are about 5-15 minutes from Sapphire Point.
Snowy wedding ceremony photos at Sapphire Point Overlook
My photography journey started in 2009 when I fell in love with documenting moments and capturing people in their element.
11 years ago, I moved to the amazing little mountain town of Breckenridge, Colorado from Raleigh, North Carolina.
Wild to say I've photographed over 300 weddings and portrait sessions all over. I started this small but mighty team of local mountain photographers to capture whatever season of life you're in.
