Breckenridge, Colorado is quite possibly one of the most beautiful places in the US, and certainly no lack of views for your wedding venue backdrop, things to do, and places to stay. You’re surrounded by mountain views, fun and cute mountain towns that will make for a memorable trip for you, and your friendly and family! From skiing and snowboarding to hiking and mountain biking, or just enjoying the views, theres a little bit of something for everyone.
Encourage your guests to arrive a few days early to soak it all in. As a local Breckenridge wedding photographer, I’m lucky enough to spend most of my time at these venues, and happy to share my honest opinion and experience with you!
Ten Mile Station is a gorgeous wedding venue on Breckenridge Resort and perfect for summer weddings. It’s located on Breckenridge Mountain on Peak 9 – a ski lodge in the winter and a wedding venue in the summer. It’s one of Breckenridge’s most popular venues.
They host outdoor ceremonies and indoor receptions for up to 200 people. The ceremony and reception views are incredible and inside is a cool, industrial and rustic vibe.
Local shuttle companies will shuttle your guests to and from the venue. While you’ll have to find a hotel or Airbnb close by, there are plenty to choose from!
The views at The Lodge at Breckenridge are unbeatable. Located up on the cliff on Boreas Pass, their ceremony site overlooks all of Breckenridge Ski Resort and the ceremony deck is hands down one of the best views of Breck.
The hotel is spacious for all your guests to stay onsite with restaurant and bar and a shuttle that will take you into town.
Another ski lodge turned wedding venue, The Breckenridge Nordic Center, is such a special place to tie the knot!
The ceremony site is tucked among evergreen trees with views of Peak 8 popping through. The reception space in the Lodge is so quaint with a fireplace and giant windows, so you really feel like you’re at a cozy cabin in the woods.
If you’re looking for a cool and unique place to get married, The Breckenridge Distillery is it! Tucked in a quiet spot near Downtown Breck, you won’t find mountain views here, but fellow foodies, whiskey, and cocktail lovers will love this cozy setting.
Sevens Restaurant and bar is a cool and unique venue right at the base of Peak 7 with views of the resort and chair lift.
Main Street Station has the most beautiful backdrop for your mountain wedding! It’s located right at the base of Maggie Pond with Peak 9 in the background.
Hotel Alpenrock is Breckenridge’s newest wedding venue right at the base of 9 nine with gorgeous views of the mountain.
If you’re looking for something smaller and more intimate, there are many rental home options! Check out local rental companies like Moving Mountains or VRBO to see what homes accommodate weddings and events.
Breckenridge is just one of the mountain towns in the county – be sure to check out other venues in Summit County. Breckenridge is the most popular and most visited, but be sure to check out Frisco, Keystone, Silverthorne, and Dillon. They all offer their own charm, but are very similar and close in distance!
If you’re staying in Downtown Breckenridge, it’s very walkable and there’s a free town bus. It’s still an hour and a half from Denver, so you’ll either want to rent a car or book a shuttle. There are so many places to explore, so I would recommend renting a 4-wheel drive car. While we do have Uber or a taxi service, they’re limited and not always reliable.
Breckenridge is beautiful regardless of the time of year, but keep in mind—at 9,600 feet, seasons aren’t quite the same as the rest of the world. Holidays and peak seasons can bring bigger crowds so plan accordingly.
Prime Winter: December through March
Dreaming of a winter wonderland with snowy backdrop? Winter is our longest and busiest season. Perfect for skiing, trying a new winter activity or keeping cozy by the fire.
Prime Summer: Mid-June through September
Summers in Breckenridge are one of the best. Wildflowers, perfect temperatures (cool nights), hiking, mountain biking and all the outdoor activities!
Prime Fall: Mid-September to early October
Fall in Breckenridge is short but sweet. A very popular few weeks for leaf peeping, yellow aspens, cool air and cold nights.
‘Mud Season’ (aka Shoulder Season): April, May, late October through November
Mud season is quieter and more budget-friendly, but can come with unpredictable weather with the seasons changing, muddy or closed trails and restaurant closures. You might get snow, mud, sunshine, or all three in one day. Still, a great option for couples with a little flexibility.
There’s a lodge, condo, or Airbnb to fit every style and budget. Just remind your guests to book early, especially if you’re getting married during peak ski season or summer festivals. Check out this list of hotels in Breckenridge and things to do while you’re visiting!
The cost of a wedding in Breckenridge can vary greatly depending on your venue! There are smaller, more low-key wedding venues that run in the $150 range to rent for a few hours for the space only. There are other more ‘luxury’ venues, like on the ski resort will start at a minimum of $11,000 and can average roughly around $25,000-$35,000. Most of the more luxury venues will include food, beverage, and rentals in the minimum.
It’s true! In Colorado, you don’t need to have an officiant and can do it yourself! This is great for the couples who just want a super low-key day, and such a fun way to do it, however you want!
One option is hiring an officiant for a religious ceremony, or just wanting a little more structure and to take the pressure off, knowing what to do. You could also have a close friend or family member marry you! I feel like this is one of the best ways to incorporate someone important in your life!
Pro tip: You can even have your dog (or any pet) sign your marriage license.
If you want something less structured or just the two of you, you don’t need anyone! You can just get your marriage license and do it however you wish! Here’s the website to get a marriage license in Breckenridge.
Hi! I'm Kelsey!
My photography journey started in 2009 when I fell in love with documenting moments and capturing people in their element.
11 years ago, I moved to the amazing little mountain town of Breckenridge, Colorado from Raleigh, North Carolina.
Wild to say I've photographed over 300 weddings and portrait sessions all over. I started this small but mighty team of local mountain photographers to capture whatever season of life you're in.
