Planning a trip to Breckenridge, Colorado? It’s one of the best mountain towns to visit and is perfect for a romantic getaway. There’s a little bit of everything, from skiing and hiking to a cute downtown with a fun, relaxed vibe.
I’ve called Breckenridge home for the last 14 years and love sharing my favorite local spots. It’s one of the best places in Colorado for a honeymoon, a relaxing weekend away, or a fun couples trip.
Whether you’re here for outdoor adventures, a ski trip, or a slower, cozy getaway, here are my favorite romantic things to do in Breckenridge, Colorado, for couples.
Date night ideas in Breckenridge
Breckenridge has so many fun date night options, whether you want something outdoorsy and casual, romantic for a special occasion, or just a night in town.
Private sleigh ride at Golden Horseshoe
If you’re here over the winter, Golden Horseshoe offers private sleigh rides through the snowy trees. It’s such a cozy winter experience and perfect for couples visiting during the colder months.
You’ll ride through quiet forest trails wrapped in blankets while horses pull the sleigh through the snow. It feels like it’s straight out of a winter movie.
Sunset drive around Lake Dillon
One of my favorite and easy date nights is taking a sunset drive around Lake Dillon. The road circles the lake through Frisco, Dillon, and Keystone, with amazing views of Lake Dillon and the mountains.
You can pull over at different points along the lake, like Sapphire Point or the Frisco or Dillon marinas, to take photos, walk along the lake, or just enjoy the view. My favorite is around sunset and dusk.
If you want to stretch your legs, the Dillon Amphitheater area or Frisco Marina is a great place for a walk.
Happy hour on Breckenridge Main Street
Breckenridge has some of the best Happy Hour deals! It’s a great place to start the evening before wandering around Main Street.
A few of my favorites are:
Blue River Bistro
Carboy Winery
Rootstalk
Aurum
Tavern Underground
Hearthstone
Spa day at the Infinity Spa on Peak 8
If a spa day is more your style, The Infinity Spa at Grand Lodge on Peak 8 is one of the best spas in Breckenridge and perfect for a relaxing day together.
Plan extra time for the grotto area with indoor hot tubs, sauna, steam room, and cold plunge.
Instead of driving up, I recommend taking the gondola for a fun experience (as long as you finish before it closes for the day).
If you stay at the Grand Lodge, you also get access to their incredible outdoor hot tubs that face Breckenridge Ski Resort. Sitting in a hot tub with mountain views is hard to beat. I highly recommend! I love staying here for a little relaxing and fun staycation.
Walk around Main Street at night
Breckenridge Main Street is always charming, but it feels especially cozy at night. The historic buildings are lit up, restaurants and bars are buzzing, and there’s usually live music somewhere.
Grab a drink, walk through the shops, and enjoy the mountain town atmosphere.
Dog sledding
Dog sledding with GoodTimes Adventures is one of the most unique winter experiences in Breckenridge, and it’s so much fun! You get pulled through the snowy trails by a team of huskies while learning how dog sledding works.
It’s surprisingly thrilling and also really fun if you love dogs. Definitely one of the most memorable things you can do together on a winter trip.
Breckenridge Distillery date night
The Breckenridge Distillery is one of my favorite spots in town for cocktails and dinner. It’s a fun place to go for a date night, whether you sit at the bar, grab a table for dinner, or do one of their distillery tours.
Their cocktails are some of the best in Breckenridge, and the atmosphere feels a little more elevated while still being relaxed.
If you’re short on time, there’s also a smaller tasting room right on Main Street. It’s the perfect place to grab a Breckenridge souvenir.
Where to Stay for a Couple’s Trip to Breckenridge
Breckenridge has tons of cozy places to stay, from boutique hotels to cabin rentals with mountain views and hot tubs.
Staying near downtown makes it easy to walk to restaurants and shops, while cabins just outside town are a quieter mountain experience.
My photography journey started in 2009 when I fell in love with documenting moments and capturing people in their element.
14 years ago, I moved to the amazing little mountain town of Breckenridge, Colorado, from Raleigh, North Carolina.
Wild to say I've photographed over 300 weddings and portrait sessions all over. I started this small but mighty team of local mountain photographers to capture whatever season of life you're in.
